Getting Started
Thank you for your interest in enrolling at our studio. Frequently asked questions and there corresponding answers are listed below. Please view the class schedule to select your classes. Registration can be done online or in-person at the studio.
Picking Classes
What type of classes do you offer?
Houston Red Door offers classical ballet, pointe, contemporary, modern, turns & progressions, jazz, hip-hop and dance fitness. As well as princess club, a introduction to dance for girls ages 5 and under.
What are the start and end dates for the Spring 2013 semester?
The Spring 2013 semester begins Friday, January 4th and ends Monday, May 27th.
What age can my student start dancing?
Houston Red Door classes are open to dancers ages 4 and older. With beginner, intermediate, advanced and pre-professional curriculum we accept dancers all of abilities. Special consideration is given to students under the age of 4 interested in dance that exhibit sufficient attention capabilities. Free evaluation class for these students.
Do you offer a trial class?
Yes, at Houston Red Door we want all of our students to enjoy their class(es) so we offer one free trial class to new students.
Does a student have to enroll in classes to be a member of the performance company?
Yes, we require all of our performance company members to enroll in a minimum of 12 classes per month (4 per week) to ensure adequate training and development. In addition, company members are sometimes required to attend company rehearsals for upcoming events. Note: enrolling in classes does not gurantee acceptance into the performance company.
Do you offer adult classes?
Yes, adult community classes are scheduled throughout the semester. In addition, all of our instructors offer private instruction at competitive rates. For additional information please contact us at info@houstonreddoor.com requesting to be added to the adult community class mailing list.
Class Tuition Options
What are your billing periods? Can I pay monthly or per semester
Semester tuition may be paid in full upon registration (5% discount) or if preferred students may enroll into our monthly installment plan of 5 equal payments due by the 1st of each month. If unable to commit to a monthly installment plan we offer a walk-in rate as well.
How much is class tuition?
Class tuition is based on the number of hours a student takes per month. The full class tuition chart and policy can be viewed under the tab "class tuition" at the top of the screen.
Do you offer a family discount?
Yes, we offer a 10% discount off the total cost of tution for families with two or more students enrolled for the semester.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, credit/debit card and online payments can be made via PayPal from our class tuition page. Credit/debit card transactions are subject to a 2.75% convienience fee.
Is tuition pro-rated?
Tuition is not pro-rated for nationally recognized holidays. If a student enrolls mid-month tuition will be pro-rated for the classes he/she is able to attend. Please ensure you fully read and understand our tuition policy on the class tuition page.
Performance Company Auditions
When are auditions for the performance company?
We are constantly searching for new dancers to join our performance company and often times will invite students enrolled in classes to become members. Group auditions are scheduled periodically throughout the year and individual auditions can be scheduled as well. The application to join the performance company is available for download from our website.
What types of performances do members get to participate in?
Houston Red Door does a variety of performances throughout the year. Typically performances for which we take a large cast are festivals, showcases, zoo events and parades. Past performances include: Freedom Over Texas, The Mayors Holiday Lighting Celebration, Houston New Years Eve Live, Thanksgiving Day Parade and Zoobilee at the Houston Zoo.
Are there any fees associated with being in the performance company?
Dependent upon what level the member is within the performance company there may be a costume fee associated with their membership. There are no company rehearsal fees for events but in the event a choreographer is brought in to set a piece an additional fee may apply.
Registration
Once I select my classes, how do I register?
Registration can be done online via the prospective students page of our website by completing the online registration form. A confirmation email will be sent upon completion. Registration can also be done in-person at the studio.
What if I am unable to attend the entire semester?
Students unable to enroll in the full semester may participate on a month-to-month or walk-in basis. Students who enroll for the semester receive a reduced tuition price and are eligible for the semester installment plan. Students enrolled in a semester installment plan are responsible for the full semester tuition. To withdrawal from the semester written notice is required within one week from the students final class day. There is a $25 processing fee for withrawal from the semester installment plan.
